I have to disagree with ya there Bill bout Indian Valley. I have caught some really decent fish outa there and have heard there are TOADS both smallie and Large. You do have to hit it at the right time of year but there are really good fish to be caught.... Rich fished there too, I think he caught them pretty good too??

I also think that somewhere between $5-$10 extra to fish Berryessa 2 times a season would be great. I would happily pay the extra. I also agree that we as fisherman fishing tourneys should stick together and kinda boycott and not fish there this next year. I personally dont want to miss fishing a tourney there.I think not having at least 1 there next season would be a mistake. But that is just my .02

Dudes,

Spring and Highland SUCKS! Stop fishing it.

I had completely forgotten about the $200 BS on Berryessa. I think we should all stick together and boycott Berryessa along with all the other orgs for a year to see if those numb nuts gets the message.

I'm in favor of fishing only the Delta and Clear Lake for a whole season, eliminate running for 70% of the tourney's and just pick places where it can sustain 30+ tubers. Apply for running permits twice at Clear Lake and once for the Delta so then we can cut down the expenses. I'm still in favor of doing our own tourney in May and making BnT's Clear Lake Open as sort of a bonus tourney.

Anyone down for this idea?

I would agree to all of this and I`m definately firm on the berryessa deal those people are gouging the fishing community and need to be boycotted.

After seeing more input from other people i can understand cutting out places like Berryessa due to the costs and other small places. I just like the Windsor Ponds, i do well there (sounds funny coming from me). If we get access to both ponds it wound be a good size set u for 20 to 30 tubers.I would be willing to make multiple trips to the Delta and Clear Lake but i would like to keep Sonoma.

Seems like a lot more of our tournaments we are going to be driving more. Its tough to fish a Sunday tournament and then work on Monday. Maybe we could vote on a ratio of Saturday and Sunday tournaments also.

I know that everyone wants to go to clear lake, as do I ... but what about heading south as well? I know that near san bruno there are a string of large lakes on 580 south.. dont know if they have bass or if they are even fishable, but ... it might be just worth it to find out if anyone knows anything about them ...

for my 2 cents worth, here's my list

Feb ... Spring lake
Mar ... Clear Lake
Apr ... Blue Lakes
May ... Lake Sonoma
Jun ... Delta (team)
May ... Indian Valley or Windsor Ponds
Jun ... Lake Sonoma (team)
Jul ... Lower or Upper Crystal Springs Resevoir (redwood city)
Aug ... Clear Lake Open
Sep ... Blue Lakes
Oct ... Highland Springs
Nov ... ????

I know that the rebc boycotted berryessa this year. We just didn't feel that lake is worth an additional 200 permit and wanted to send them a message. Not like they care, but we felt we had to do it as a matter of principal.

im not a member of your guy's club but you are all saying spring lake sucks you guy's don't know how to fish it, there is plenty of fish in there. There is more fish in there and bigger ones now there is a pond in bennett valley that i fished for 5 years cought 10 pounders in there they drained that lake and dumped them all in spring lake a little less then a year ago. I think they said around 10,000 something fish they pulled out of that pond.

im no member of your club but i sure would want to the only problem is i have no wheels to get to the tourny's i live about 2 minutes from spring lake thuogh, if someone would like to motor me around to the tourny's i would be glad to kick down some gas money

there are still big fish in spring, but it isn't nearly as good as it used to be. They stopped stocking it with trout which was a great fuel supply, and it has been heavily fished over the years. Plus if 30 kickboats are out there, it is tough to fish with plenty of space and not creeping in on other boaters. We know there are big fish there, but there are other reasons why i feel that the people in the club are skeptical of the lake again. However, it is the last local lake!

I just got a call from the Mendo Bassers pres. They fished a 2 day tourney on Pillsbury this last spring. I said Pillsbury and he goes, "DUUUUUUUUDDDDE. that place is amazing isn't it?" Top 7 had over 40lbs with winner at 60+ lbs. We need to do a tryout up there this year.

Just to let you know the lakes off 280 are off limits to EVERYBODY. There are some toads from reports of guys who have fished then ran after the Rangers started chasing them!

Miguel, thanks for your input and most everyone here has had some great success at Spring but if you fish it with 30+ other people at the same time...it does tighten up. We have some good tourney sticks that have trouble there at times (tournament specifically). Come join if you can!

Todd
