I fished up there about 2 years ago and the water was just about this low in the picture you posted. I sure hope though it doesn't get any lower that lake isn't even that deep hah maybe 15 feet at the most?

Big Dave and I went there as we do every year in July. The water was low, but nothing like it is now. If they bring the level back, I will ralley some $$ up for Florida Strain. Thats if they're not an arm and a fin. Lets all hope for the best. Thanks for all the great information. I will write my letter this weekend for what ever its worth.

Rich

This sucks. I guess we will have to make our annual trek somewhere else this year Rich.

The lake level will certainly drop further over the spring and summer months. Typical rainfall for April through June is only 2.7 inches and most of that will be absorbed by the surrounding dry soil that has not seen meaningful precipitation since February.

Whatever fish are left in there are goners. Please write or call Mary Pass and let her know this is unacceptable. The more letters and calls they get the better the chances that this ridiculous water management practice is reversed.

Rich, if you can send your letter representing the club and its members then I am sure that will carry extra weight.

the press democrat got back to me today while i was at work they are supposed to call me back tonight after 5:30 ill pass that info along later
and im not against some bucket biology when the water returns but if the bait fish, crawdads and such are lost its all for not
im more inclined to try and pressure the state into some sort of fix
florida strain would be nice though
ive also had a kind of compromise idea where fish caught in this clubs tourneys next year might be relocated if say we can get the state to supply a truck?
were a ways from there yet though
wright those letters for now make a little fuss and see what happens
keep there heads up Duck

john crossman saying the fish are fine??? what a frigin ARSE WHOLE. is he serious? it depleted most its spawning grounds, no more tulies, and it's like shooting a fish in the barrel for the cormorants and ospreys. maybe if the lake wasn't very plentyful of fish, but we all know there are TONS of 1-3 lbs stacked up in the middle with little food wondering how the hell they will spawn! this article pist me off!! but so glad it got into the public eye, im sure more people will send in letters. thanks to bobinduck who helped out and mindseye!

WOW, what a front page. Did you see that Dave? That's a picture of the dam. Check out all the rocks there at the bottom. I think that in the long run this will be a good thing as now the fish will be thinned out and we all know that Sanj needed it bad.

It is starting to sound as if it will be filled back to the level where we once again can flip the reeds. We will then need to get some Florida's in there. That's the body of water that started all this Sonoma County Belly Boat Bass Club stuff. If you have ever enjoyed fishing with the SCBBBC you owe it to that drained lake on the front page of the Press Democrat.

I went up there last weekend on the mountain bike and was shocked at what I saw. If you get a chance to hike up there I suggest you go. Its a sight to see. I'll try to post some of the pictures I took of the mud hole.

Rich

I sure did Rich. It was nice to see a fire get lit under those responsible. It would be good to see some heavy equipment go in there and deepen some of the silted in areas.

Im the mike drake quoted in the story. My letter to the editor went in Thursday p.m. and the writer interviewed me Friday. I have invited said reporter to join me up there in late august or September, to see the real damage. That's when the fight really starts I think. Im not done guys, not by a long shot. Keep this rolling. And keep there heads up.

anyway we can get some trucks up there to grab like 200-500 fish out of there and throw them in spring/ralphine/fountain grove/windsor etc? there just gonna get eating, and might have a chance to spawn in one of the other lakes.
