The only way to get to Kent Lake is to be ready for a hike. You can go there in two ways.

The easier way of the two is to find the pull out off of Sir Francis Drake and park your car there. Then you have to walk up to the dam, which is mostly uphill. Then from the dam you can either fish the left side, which is probably better since you can find more areas to fish. Some people go to the right side of the dam, but there is not much going on there.

The other way to get there is to park at the Bon Tempe dam and take the fire road to the other end of Kent Lake. If you have a mountain bike with you, then you can probably get to this section of the lake in about 30 minutes (you do the calculation if you were walking). Some people ask why the hell would anyone try to go to this area. Well, because of the lonk trek in, this area of the lake does not get very much pressure. Therefore, many times people are rewarded for their trek (i have not gone this way yet since I refuse to walk this far in hopes of getting a bite. I would want to kill myself if I went this far and got skunked).

So far it seems the flipping jigs, swim jigs, and of course the swimbait bite has been going good. Do be careful as some of the areas are steep and there have been reports of people falling into the lake.

I hope that covers it all for you. Have fun out there and bring your hiking shoes and some lunch.

I can tell you one thing, it is a beautiful lake to be at. Add the fact that on any given weekday you could be the only person out there fishing, and you really got something special there.

If you like to bank fish, since no crafts are allowed on any of the marin lakes, then most of the marin lakes would something to check out. We just had one of our younger club members pull a 10lb 2oz out at Nicasio (http://img35.imageshack.us/img35/5082/3262637img.jpg ) on the new Jig Monster Swim Jig. When you see the picture, you'll see that the fish looks almost as big as he does. Of course, this kid is a stud when it comes to shore fishing and he knows all the hot spots of all the marin lakes. Scary to think what else he'll pull up since it is now summer and he can get in all the fishing he wants.

If anyone needs info on any of the Marin lakes, let me know and I'll see what I can get for you.

I don't know for sure if dogs are allowed, but being the lake is in marin, it wouldn't surprise me. Dogs are allowed all over the marin and these lakes all have walking paths, so I'm sure dogs would be allowed. I've tried looking up this information, but have not found anything online. I'll make a few calls to see if it is possible to bring your dogs.

That thing is a beauty nice markings on her,  i always wanted to fish that place and from a toon or tube would be even sweeter since im sure it doesn't get much pressure

Hey there evryone, Dogs are allowed on leash but if you go in at the alpine dam area its 4.5 miles to good water. There is a closer area but as summer progresses the water will drop and not muc fishable water. The dam side is good as well but its 20 min to water from the road and parking is limited. I would say bring water and make a day of it. Be careful take Knife or something in case of Mtn lion encounter. There are also some huge trout aka landlocked stealhead from years past. I had a 5-7 lber hit a sinko this witer but could not get him to get the hook in his mouth. Andy

Nicasio is a nice little (BIG) pond to fish. On any given day there alot of meat fishers on the shores in the stretch from Nicasio Vally road looping all the way down th the dam. It you do walk the shore make sure you leave nothing in your vehicle. I have watched vehicles get broken into from our ranch (just across the road) many times. I plan on starting my summer fishing there a few weeks after we do Sonoma since i will be out there on most weekends. I am sure i will have AC joining me.

I live about 10 minutes away from Nicasio. Drove by there last night around 7pm and there were still about 10 people fishing easy access areas.

I hate ticks. HATE them. Thats the only thing that kept me from getting out. ;]

I will always be up for going after work or something this summer, so let me know!

just bring the deet, had 15-20 ticks on my last thursday at Nicasio including one that started to dig into my neck. If you want to get to the fishy spots you have to walk through tall grass and brush from what I have found. I will be down for going out there again because it real close to my house, I finally hooked a fish this week but I lost him in the grass. looked to be at least a 4 pounder....
