give some thought to Lake Mendo! the one time the club was there it was the toughest conditions a bass fisherman ever faces. In March, or late October/November when the smallies are on the chase would be my rec

And that is why your memberships are so far down . New peoples comfort zone are the local lakes around here. You need to throw 1 or 2 in to attract new people. New people aren`t going to want to travel all over the place to places they havent fished before in a tourney situation. Its not like the 12 members you have now are going to crowd spring or even fountain grove at this point. If you guys want to keep this club going strong you need to consider this.

Even the boat tourneys have regions they just don`t fish anywhere in n.cal. and this is a sonoma county club. Oh well my 2 cents. If you guys are happy with 2nd place getting you to break even in the winnings because of lack in numbers so be it,lol.

Seriously great attitude thats the way it should be. The point about the money was how far the membership has gone down not that this is a career move. Even when the economy was alot worse the was still at least 30 members. Why in your opinion do you think the club is drawing less members each year?  Anybody else can chime in all opinions are welcome. I`ll just say that the key for getting new people interested was to fish our first tourney at a local lake. That way they came on out with an attitude of jeez I have a chance at doing well and they get to experience how cool the club is ran and what a great bunch of guys you guys are.
Then before you know it you have a new member. Then they tell there buds how cool it was and you might get another. Also having a team tourney appeals to the new guys for obvious reasons. I know if the club is still about comradery and brotherhood and teaching and learning new things that putting a local lake on the schedule wouldn`t be to much of a sacrifice to get new blood in the club and possibly bringing back some old members.

i have no issues with the small lakes ... i had no problems with highland springs... its plenty big enough. the cove i fished , i had to myself all day !! cant ask for more than that. having to fish around other peeps is somewhat uncomfortable , but it makes you fish OUT OF OUR COMFORT ZONE .... AS REQUESTED IN A PREVIOUS POST. im down for all the local lakes. saves lots of time and money.  the lakes we fish should be our last concern... if no one steps up to do all the work to have a season , than its all a mute point!!

well as TD, I'll pick the lakes lol,

Bill made a good point on why our membership is down.  To me I'm not sure if it has to do with local lakes.  I see a lot of old and new faces fishing boat tournaments.  Fishing local lakes like spring will bring back some old timers for that tournament but doesn't make become a member.  It's hard to say but that is what I see.

I don't mind fishing spring or fountain since I haven't fish it in ages except one time.  I think it would be nice to get back to some old roots for the club.  Second it maybe crowded with the smaller lakes but it will define you as a fisherman.  We can always put the smaller lake early in the season or late.  Either way, for me putting spring lake back o the map would be fun and fountain as well.

Deren did I ever say I was uncomfortable fishing highland ? Or out of "our comfort zone"? No I didn't !!! If you actually read my post carefully you would know that. I simply said it's "lame"(doing laps around the same people) take it with a grain of salt dude. It's obviously pretty clear some people like to fish new places where they don't have "spots" or the same "patterns" they "always" fish and want to see new waters, and the other hand we have people that like to fish "familiar" places, either of some basic knowledge and/ or because they placed there before on a past tourney. That's great dude I get it. Personally I LOVE everywhere we fish- sleep or no sleep!! By my cheerful attitude most of you probably know I have a GREAT time with y'all!! I'll tell you what.... I'll keep my opinions to myself, you guys decide where you want to fish & I'll see ya there!!
