Thanks John, but it's really no big deal. Just a vote. Regardless we're fish some were homie. I haven't got the runner's permits in my hand yet, but I think we'll be getting them.

Well what's all the hoopla!  J/k I'm up for either one.  I am thinking of heading to Shasta.  Just trying to figure out the days.  I would be very happy if the vote is done the weekend before the Classic.  I don't normally get a chance to pre-fish and this will be an excuse to do it. If it's a week before the Federation then that's fine with me or if it ends up staying the same then I'll fish the club to stay in the running for the TOC.  Either way, my vote is for all three.  Just add one more vote to whatever happens at the meeting if that ends up be the deciding vote.

just my two pennies, let's have a roll call of all the guys who are positive they are going to shasta, if it is more than 6 or 7, then we put it to a vote, after all, we are getting bigger and some  have planned around the schedule since it came out, I for one would vote no on the change because I can't make either of the alt. dates. I would hate to miss a clear lake event ( where there is plenty of parking), because of a few people. sorry  scottyb

Didn't we deal with this a year or two ago? I thought this was our club and if someone wanted to fish another club tournament they could, they have a choice of what is more important to them. Is that not what we agreed on?

We have 46 paid members if the majority (I would say majority is like 2/3 typically but I would say half would be sufficient) want to fish this BASS tournament then of course we need to vote, but if it is a handful of guys I think no. Even 25% of 46 is 11 1/2, is there 11 guys who want to fish the BASS?

If fact I don't care but I am not in the same situation that I was in two years ago. Before I would have to request 30+ days in advance to get the weekend off and then I would have to work tens days straight before that weekend so I was wore out. I also would never have the opportunity to prefish because of that and I was learning in tournaments and that sucked, so we need to think of the other members not just the ones who want to fish BASS.

Hopefully we can work something out to make everyone happy

I agree with Dave DB 100%. I think that if you want to fish Shasta, Good go do it. If you want to fish SCBBBC then do that. I dont think that we should change any dates so 2-5 people can go fish another tournament. What if next year I fish 100% circuit and there is a tournement that I want to fish with SCBBBC on same date...are you willing to put it to a vote for me to change that date so I can fish both? I also think it might be hard for guys who have requested that date off work to fish to now ask to have another day off.

Besides if I am fishing in a tourney....I want a full day to fish NOT 6 hours!

This vote isn't so a SCBBBC member can go fish just any tournament and not miss a SCBBBC tourney. This is a BASS Federation Nation tournament. The SCBBBC members are all federation members. The only reason we would vote to change this date is to help support the Cal Federation Nation. We would have worked around this date as we have always done in the past when we made the schedule, but the Cal Fed didn't have there date or permit yet.

Part of being President of this Federation Nation Chapter Club is to support the BASS Federation Nation. Yes I personally would not want to miss C.L. and let these boy's run off with angler of the year and yes there is probably only a select few who would like to fish Shasta. And yes it would suck if some one had scheduled the time off already and couldn't change. I agree 100%

That's why it was a proposal only. Since Scott B wouldn't be able to make the date if it changed then we'll have no vote. I know that one of our members is glad he went to the state qualifier last year at Clear Lake. I bet he'll be at Shasta to. He is now one tournament and 11 anglers away from fishing the Bassmasters Classic. That's alittle more important then any circuit you might decide to fish.

Rich

Well, I am down in LA at a two week school and decided to take a look at the forum. I thought I would throw my 2 cents into the mix with this thread. First off I want to say I was not planning on fishing the SCBBBC September tournament so any change to the schedule does not have any personal effect on me.

I want to let you know how important the BASS Federation Nation State Championship is to all BASS Federation Nation club members which we, all SCBBBC members, are a part of. This tournament is the next stepping stone for all club members. If you want to just experience a fun boat tournament or try to advance to the next level then this tournament is for you. Not only is it pretty cheap, only about 150-200 dollar entry fee, but think about all the other benefits that go with it. You get to fish out of a boat, which you get control of for half of each day. The have a great raffle and provide a great BBQ. The fellowship with fellow anglers across the state is phenomenal. You have a chance to make the California State Team which is awesome. Have Rich show you all the benefits (sic prices on Pure Fishing tackle, Mercury products, Lowrance products, etc.) at the next meeting he is entitled to as a current state team member.

Not only that but if you make it to the California State Team then you move on to the Western Divisional. This tournament is awesome. The next step after that is where I am heading in November, the BASS Federation Nation Nationals. I will be representing the SCBBBC and the California Federation Nation. As far as I know the only thing I pay for is my plane ticket to get there. Hotel, food, and boat will be paid for. And yes, I did say “boat”. They provide one to fish out of. I will be fishing by myself with an observer. If I can beat 11 other guys then I advance to the BASSMASTER CLASSIC! Did you hear that? I am one step away from the holy grail of bass fishing. How did I do that you ask? First I belong to a BASS Federation Nation Club (SCBBBC) then I fished two tournaments! The Federation Nation State Championship and the Western Divisional!

If I can do this then anyone can. You don’t have a chance if you don’t try. I won’t weigh in on whether to change the date on the tournament but if I was you I would be at Shasta period. That’s how to get to the next level. Talk to you all soon and I hope to see you there.

I would love to fish the tournement, but ... as luck has it ... Im broke, and yes 200 to enter plus gas and hotel rooms are a bit to much for me too. ... Plus, Ive just had my retirement put on hold by the US Navy, and as luck would have it, Im probably heading back to Iraq in January for a 3rd tour ... So I know whats more important to me ... Please dont try and say whats important to members. Anyone want to go to Iraq with me? Let me know how you like your freedom

Come on guys I think what Rich was saying is that everyones purpose for being in the club differs and that the Federation qualifier is important to him.  I don't believe he was trying to say it should be the number one priority for everyone.

Remember there are members whose priority is to be able to make fishing more than just a hobby and possibly a part time career. This once was a priority of mine, but my priorities changed when it took away more time that could be allowed from my family.

Some peoples priorities are to us this club as a stepping stone to higher things(sponsorship, free lance writing, publicity) and some people like myself just enjoy getting together once a month to donate my hard earned income to you guys.

I am just out for the fun and camaraderie at this point as I don't dedicate as much time as I used to do to hone the fishing skills.

I have fished boat tourneys in the past and your really should try one, the experience is like no other.  The Federation tourneys are those opportunities. I agree we need to support the Federation as well, by arranging the schedule to minimize the conflict.  Unfortunately their schedule came out late.

Some people will choose to go to Shasta, even if we don't change the date, which I can understand and best of luck to you.  Pat Wilson you rock, I admire your dedication to fishing.  You once told me that if you had unlimited money and time to fish you would be better than Larry Nixon.  I believe you would.

Changing a date so a few of our members have a chance to make it to the big show.   I have no problems with that.  Know if it throws a hug monkey wrench into the schedule.  Then we say no, then the few will have to just miss out.   I don't know to many of you if given the option to go fish in the classic that would say no.  This is how you get there.

Second,  We need to support out federation.   You may not see want they do for use but they do a lot.  They are the ones that supplies our insurance for one.

I would like to see us work it out for every one to have a great time and be able to it to all schedule events.  But that is not real world.
