Trolling motors! Maybe just as an option at the TOC?

I agree with Jon. Also with Daren on meeting points. I shouldn't have to pay more to compete with others that are able to make meetings. 10 points can be the difference to make a toc, aoy, or any other achievement. Or pay $100. Hard enough for most these days for even gas, entrance fees, and other expenses to make every event. No matter what schedule will be i hope to attend all but i am all about variety that why i joined sonoma. Explore new water to make more a challenge. Anywhere new on the schedule be cool.

Since the topic of team tournaments was started I might as well put my 2 cents worth in. My experience on two team tournaments was discouraging to say the least. Both my partners gave quick comments before disappearing on the water leaving me to fish on my own. I felt there was no "team" concept. Let team tournaments encourage learning and comradeship between anglers.

I feel that teams have a place in our tournaments but if team partners are going to fish like individuals, then team points should not count toward individual scores leading to AOY, TOC, or ROY. Let only individual performance count.

The points have to be addressed somewhere.  6 of the 15 qualifiers for TOC catch no fish at Clear Lake and get 20 pts.  I catch no fish at the Delta and get 4 Pts.  Something is wrong with this picture.

How about lowering the skunk penalty from 10 to 5 or do away with it altogether.

Keep the team tournaments, but drop there points. Get rid of the through outs. Give zero points for no fish weighed in. This way there will be no confussion with the point system. Cut and dry, black and white.

I think the points for team tournies is a must change. Giving a person 0 strait out for blanking? Not good. You have to get points for showing up and giving your entry fee

Pts for blanks for sure. If, like Derren said, you are there to check in at the weigh in. If you bail early, 0. I like the no throwouts though and keeping the draw events.....with 10' tethers between teammates.

How would this be for team tournies. Someone said it the other week. You show to fish and you do fish the whole day you get a set point same point for the whole crew. 5,10,15 whatever. That way we keep the team tournies and you fish for the cash, trophy, and braggin rights? It was an idea someone mentioned but i cant remember who.
The tether would be a great idea if we were all in Kickboats. Some are still in tubes, some of us row faster than others. That being said would being tied together and one rowing and possibly pulling their team mate violate rule 12? just a thought

Why should you get points for blanking? Thats the chance you take with fishing. Pay your fees, roll the dice, if you dont catch any fish, then you shouldnt get points. ie .. I go to a tournement, but its miserable out there, so, after an hour or so, I pack up and go back to the weigh in and sit in my warm truck and eat hot food, while everyone is out there in the cold and the rain. As the tournement ends, I get out of my truck after a nap and go to weigh in, Oh, I blanked, not even a nibble, and I walk away with points ...

No fish to weigh in, no points

And as far as the points? I dont agree with 100/ tournament, 1 bad tournement will through you into a tailspin as far as the TOC is concerned. Stay with the 50 points, and give those who dont produce ZERO! 20 people weigh-in 50-30, everyone else gets ZERO

Team tournements should be taken out ... As has been said in this forum, what if I get my 5 fish, and my partner gets ZERO ... Why should they benifit from my good fortune, and then have them beat me out at the end of the year for a spot in the TOC becasue they rode my coat-tails on the team tournement ...

Lets just keep it a friendly competative club, no team events, 50 point max per tournement, and no points for bringing a SKUNK to the weigh-in

Under that thought process Mike of getting out of the water after a hour and sitting in your truck and napping isnt fishing hard all day no matter the conditions. Thats quitting and YES that deserves a fat zero. Fishing all day as hard as you can and not giving up and dont get a fish does deserve  points. thats comparing apples to oranges. Its 2 different scenarios....

After reading these post, mine included, I thought to myself this. There's a reason this club is growing and growing a little each and every year. I'm not sure what it is, but it might be in our best interest to leave the points the way they are. The team events are a draw for all of us and if someone moves onto the TOC because a team partner he drew helped, so be it. So I would say leave well enough alone.

I just wanted to clarify a point regarding the team points.  Looking back, the reason Mike Bogges only got 4 pts for blanking at the Delta this year was because of the team points structure.  If team draws are to stay in the schedule, I agree that the points should be the same as individual: 1st=50, 2nd=49 etc, not the skip system.

As a fairly new member to the club, I thought the team concept was cool at first, but the points system bugged me and had me fearing, more than looking forward to those 2 this year.  I think in concept it is good to have two members connect on the water, but the luck of the draw surely has hurt more than a few TOC berths in year's past, I am sure.  That said, I had good draws this year and John Hatfiled and I actually shared and helped each other on the water, so it can work positively.

My vote at the meeting will be:
Regular points for team draws il(that would alleviate some, not all, heartache.)
Leave the "negative 10" for blanking as it is.
