Do to the fact that the Cal State Federation Nation tournament is scheduled for Sept 20th and 21st this conflicts with the SCBBBC Clear Lake tourney on the 20th. I would like to fish both tournament as would several other SCBBBC members. One of the benefits of joining the SCBBBC is you also become a member of the BASS Federation Nation. They have one state team qualifying tournament a year and Lake Shasta is it. I don't want to move the date just because of the parking. I would like to move the date so we can fish both tournaments.

I'm going to Shasta regardless and it would suck to miss our Clear Lake tournament. So I'm propose a vote at the next SCBBBC meeting.

It was a blast fishing late and tiring at the same time. We blasted off at 5:30am to 11:30 and weighed. then went out again and fished 1:00-7am and weighed.

the first day we had almost a decent limit on frogs in the first 45minutes. partner stuck a 3.5# and I stuck a 3#. and then he stuck two 2.5#

then we went jig fishing. it was slow. i caught a 5.09# and then my partner, bill, caught a 5.59# within the last 2 hours of fishing.... FINALLY...

by then we had about 19.5#. we rushed back to one more spot near no mans reef and I skipped a jig under the dock with 10 minutes left and culled that 2.5# to a 3#. we were happy to weigh in first place with 20.8#

we went back where we left off to no mans reef area for the second part of fishing. i decided to switch up to a lighter jig 1/4oz blue and black. casted in tight with a rock wall and I felt dead weight. I hauled in a 6.99# for our first fish.
We went back to our honey hole for the next 3 hours. I caught about 9 fish on the jig just dragging it. I was able to catch all the fish in the bag for 18.6#...My partner was catching fish but wasnt able to help to cule some of those small ones.
went back a little closer to the launch to do some top water in the last hour. we lost so many top water fish. threw the spook caught and lost tiny ones. threw the frog and lost 5 solid ones. and threw the wake bait missing 2 bites.
we ended up staying at 18.6#

we took first place. but didnt get big fish. big fish for the night was 7.4# from Patrick I think(top water).

it was a blast and my partner was awesome. I got to control the front of the boat most of the time and spots. my first boat tournament was fun and a successful 1st place win!

thanks to all the scbbbc members for teaching me how to get them toads!
thanks to kevin k. for telling me the sweet locations!

most of them were caught on the iwamoto football jig but the 6.99 came off of a 1/4oz arkie head jig by pepper or booyah. forgot

whats important i think: the size of your jig in certain areas, a typical brown or black jig will work at night and some trailer that you have confidence in.
and a movie you can watch while you are fishing that jig slow.

not to sure. check rebc.net for results in a couple days. i think it was a total of 10-12 teams. (boater/co-angler team event)

winnings- cant get rich off of it. but it was fun. (40/person)($80/boat)

the more the boats the more fun it is! come join! non-boaters and boaters!
at the sametime represent the kickboat club
i believe the next event is a team event at clear lake again! lakeport this time.

That was a great night tournament for sure. Congrats to Bill and Dom well done.I think my team got 6th out of 11 or 12 teams.

I caught my personal best catfish and crappie that night. To bad they dont count...I think we need a all species pot?????
When I had the cat on the line I thought I had BF nailed... DOH

Plus its good to be alive, evidently me and my boater came within a foot or two of being run over. And its awesome to have a 4 ft wake get you all wet at 1:30 in the morning. Atleast it was not cold out there that night.

I started off the tournament using a different jig with a rattle and missed several bites... basically catching zero fish the first 1/2. I felt bad that my partner had to carry me.. During the break I tied on 2 jigs black/red and brown/red with large sweet beavers as trailers and caught 1/2 our 18lb sack the second 1/2.... Plus my monster catfish...

I learned my lesson when I got home I pulled all the rattles off all my other jigs and chucked them in the garbage can.
