Reply with quote | #1 | so i was thinking and maybe this is a new one for all of us. If I can somehow get this to work. How many of you are willing to go down and fish Oneil Forebay. The species will be striped bass. One fish weigh in btw two people and to keep them alive we can use the clip on stringers and drag them behind the boat. There were a few of us back in the days putting bass on a clip on stringer. I'm sure some us remember those days. The fish survive after being drag around and then was release. The best time for the stripers is in the fall/winter from Oct-March. We can put a slot limit on size like 18inch which is the legal length to keep. We can make it 18-30inches. Anything above 30 inches can not be weigh in but you can take a picture of it later. A 30 incher will run about 20+lbs. 18-24inch are consider schoolie stripers and runs about 3-15lbs. it's just a thought and it new water and something totally different. The gear for stripers are pretty much the same, deep crank, top water, and on this one we can use live or cut bait.
Okay so give me your thoughts... any dead fish I will take home Stripers I will eat LOL __________________ Scbbbc

Reply with quote | #6 | If you're thinking Stripers, why not hit Italian in Dec or Jan? Smaller body of water, closer and some good size ones too! Not as big as O'Neil but usually plenty of them around! Uh, it must have been a while Mr. Striper. A 30" fish is only 10-15 lbs generally speaking. I should know, unfortunately that is the biggest I have ever caught but plan on breaking it this winter! The ones I got were only 10-11lb (a few at 30"). They are showing in the south delta. I took a trip today and got a mixed bag of largies and schoolie stripers. Only 19" was our big striper of the day but did get a few on topwaters! For those who don't know, Binh was a striper king back in the days. He taught me a lot! Then I showed him tournament bass fishing.... Reply with quote | #7 | LOL Todd,
Yes it's been awhile since I dedicated myself to chasing stripers. I'm thinking of the 30 incher in the ocean. Now they weigh a lot heavier in the ocean than in the lake. guess all those squid, shrimp, anchovies, and salmon smolts fatten them up.
Most likely the schedule will be as follow
Clear-Feb Berryessa-April Delta-Sept.
Figure berry would be nice and in april the spots and smallie would like to come out __________________ Scbbbc
