Walking into a tackle store or Casino and filling out a form and paying cash for a little sticker isn't going to stop this future problem. They can charge us $100.00 each and every day we go fishing at Clear Lake and the outcome will be the same. From what I have read about this mussel, just walking into and filling in the blanks on a form and exchanging cash isn't going to stop the mussel from spreading.
It just blows me away how stupid we are some times. Why not just stop all boats from entering the lake. No one will get any money from us fishermen. So they'll milk us $10.00 here and $10.00 there for ink on the form and few pens and stickers. And I guess now some rainbow ties for boats. Our tax's we already pay should cover the cost of these stickers and forms we fill out that no one really pays any attention to. What they need to do is paint a big red logo of a mussel on all boats, rafts, floaties etc that have been in infested waters. And when one of those boats show up on our clean lakes, knock it to them and do a real once over on their boats. Do a real official inspection, not just a form that you fill out while you pay for your Robo worms at the register. Ah, I feel much better now. Thanks

Dude, you should send your rant to the editor of that newspaper. I agree with you 100%. If they need to make $ maybe a day use/launch fee is in order for all the ramps. We work too hard for too little and we don't need another gross increase of money out-of-pocket to go do what we love to do. Times are tough enough. I for one have NEVER float tubed or kickboated anywhere near an infected area, but I will still have to pay? fubar.

its just a matter of time until it gets here. it has traveled across the country in less then 10 years. they are microscopic larvae good luck spotting them without a mignifiyer ...
I fear that someone is just gonna say F***-it and release them on purpose just to stop this bullshit nickel and diming cR*p...

Gee Clear Lake used to be such a nice place to fish. Now I wonder if this takes effect if I will fish it again. I got my Scobby Doo pole ready for my bath tube, at least I know I can still fish there and not be penalized for being a fisherman. Why do fisherman keep getting penalized for the incorrect actions of agencies setup to protect our waters?
Example: California Delta Stamp, Fishing License Fee keeps rising, No Barb regulations on the RR river, Quagga Mussel Sticker, etc..
When will it end!!! Not before we keep taking it in the end!!
Bend over California, here is another bill you have to pay for living in this great state that can't balance a budget and keeps making the little guy(the tax payer) flip the bill.
I have a big flip for them!!

I was going to stay out of it but this is a croak of poop. Yes so easy to get a sticker and no one is out enforcing it. How many of you fish clear a lot and had a boat come to you and ask for your sticker. I think they need to do some studies and surveys to see what kind of people use the lake and where are they coming from. The only guys you have to worry are the national boat tournaments. As for us tuber to catagorized us with the boaters is down right stupid. There should be a different class or catagory for guys like us. It's not like I"m going to drive to lake mead drop my boat in and haul it back. DUHHHHH
