Okay look everyone ....

We all know its going to be cold, possibly bone chilling cold at berryessa this weekend, so, from a 22 year military medical man, whos seen his share of cold weather in bridgeport, Iraq and kuwait, heres some advice...

1. HYPOTHERMIA .... HYPO (LOW) THERMIA (BODY TEMPERATURE)

your normal human's body temperature is around 98.6 give or take a degree. Hypothermia occurs when your body temperature drops below 95-96 ...

(there are some of us who are reptiles who dont have a body temperature ... you all know who you are...)

signs and symptoms of hypothermia:

1. cold, painful extremities ... why? because your body is pulling blood back into its core.
2. difficulty moving your fingers and toes
3. low body temperature .. see above
4. shivering, teeth chattering

if you get any of these, do us all a favor, get out of the water and go sit in your truck for a while to heat back up ... your getting hypothermia is not worth it.

5. stupor, sleepiness
6 falling asleep suddenly (falling out of the boat and drowning)

Bring hand warmers and use them, bring a thermus filled with hot tomatoe soup or tea or coffee)

"bring a thermus filled with hot tomatoe soup"  Is this just something that you like? Or is there more to it than that?

Tomato soup is thick, it holds the heat better than chicken soup ... holding the heat means it gives your cre a chance to absorb the heat ...

Tomato soup ....

Update on the weather ...

low 20's in valleys over night friday and saturday

Mike and Fred you 2 have like no insulation (fat) on either of ya. Make sure to bring your parkas and electric socks. I guess this is one of those good times to have a bad body fat index. I guess i wnt freeze
