And it's already a heated start. To make it even more exciting, and a prize on the horizon to chase after.
The 2017 AOY will receive the following at this point, and maybe more.

Simms Jacket with your name and AOY 2017 embroidered.

A custom quality rod, that represents our club, paired with a shimano reel which will either be a chronarch/ or a metanium. The custom rod will be unique and have an SCBBBC theme to it.

As well as $500 in cash.

There may be a few things added in, such as a guided trip with famed Matt Allen from tactical bassin.

Keep your eyes open for other news to follow.

2017 Season Opener!!!!!! Get excited!!!!!!!

I hope everyone had a great off-season, but it's time to kick it into high gear and get ready for the 1st tournament of the year at Lake Berryessa.

There are points to be had, prizes to win, and cold hard cash πŸ’°to the top finishers.

So here are the things to be excited about. Check this out....not only are the payouts nice, but there are going to be some bonuses to those payouts, BUT!!! There are going to be metrics that have to be met in order to obtain these bonuses, all the way around.

***If we draw at least 20 anglers this tournament and the finishers must be a club member as well as be "all in" for the options with entry (entry/big fish). The top 3 finishers will a bonus sponsored by former club member and president Jeff Andress as follows.***

πŸ₯‡1st: normal payout based off entries (as it always has) but will also get the additional "Empire Restoration sponsored cash bonus of $100.00

πŸ₯ˆ2nd: normal payout with an additional $50.00 bonus also sponsored by Empire Restoration.

πŸ₯‰3rd: normal payout with a $25.00 bonus.

***If any of the 1st-3rd finishers do not meet all of the requirements (current club member, all in on the entries/options, minimum 20 angler turn out) they will not be eligible to win the bonus, and the bonus will go to the next Eligible contestant that does meet the metrics.***

The winner of the big fish will get the normal payout and if you are also a club member and again "all in" with entry and options as well as 20 anglers. You will also win a brand new rod. The rod will either be an Irod Genesis 2 or an Dobyns Sierra or Savvy series rod. The rods will vary each month and swap back and fourth between the two (February- iRod, March- Dobyns, Etc)

***Special Random Bonus***

This is something I've been tossing back and fourth and decided to put it in motion. Every tournament will have a random bonus that can be won by meeting the special metrics for the specific tournament. This tournaments special bonus will be able to be won as follows.

"Trifecta Bag": if you finish top 3 and your weigh in limit of fish have at least one of each type of fish in it.

1- Spotted Bass
1- Largemouth Bass
1- Smallmouth Bass
The other 2 can be any combo of the 3 listed

You will win a tournament tackle pack stuffed full of random premium tackle. The bag will be equivalent of a "ziplock 1 Gallon" bag.

A special thanks to Jeff Andress with Empire Restoration that is giving us the ability to make this happen.

This year is turning out to be one for the books, all we need is YOUR PARTICPATION!!!!!!. Sign up!!! Show up!!! Show everyone what ya got!!!!

I'll be starting a sign up post on the forum as well as Facebook, make sure to sign up so we know what to expect!!!!

Yes.... things have always evolved. We used to not allow oars, and even outlawed ping paddles guys used to use in the round tube.

I think add the trolling motors is not something I'd vote for, but I would vote fore pedals on the yaks.

As for the live wells, part of the fun in my opinion is being able to see and weigh in your big limit and see everyone else's. that is something I don't see ever changing, no one want to see a dude with a photo with a thumbs up instead of a couple of donks.

Despite all of the craziness about fishing during the spawn, fish dying, etc... there are not any truthful studies out there where it shows it actually hurts the fish.

Take Clearlake.... that place is absolutely hammered during the spring time, and it is probably one of the most plentiful, healthy, extraordinary bass lakes out there.

Looking at all the guys who build ponds, and raise trophy fisheries. They harvest and huge amount in order to maintain growth rates and stabilize the lakes for future growth. Harvesting is good. And with lakes like Clearlake, delta, etc it would take one hell of a harvest to negatively affect the lakes.

But anyway back to the main topic. The club doesn't belong to any one person. The club belongs to its members, and if the majority of members want change, than that's what will happen. I'm not a fan of some things, but when I actually think about.... there not really anything that would make me not fish the club. I don't care if you are in a 300 hp bass boat, or a round tube. Do your homework, pre fish, gain skills, challenge your self, put time on the water, and it doesn't matter how fast, how slow, or what kind of boat your in.

You can either figure it out, and catch fish or you won't. We're not talking about letting bass boats to fish, or power motors were talking about kayaks and foot pedals. It will not give anyone else an advantage.

The same thing happens when the first kickboat came(which I think was Jay Bryant) and people complained and cried about him being able to cover more water and blah blah blah. One guy stopped fishing because of it..... his loss. It's a great club and will continue to be great. But what will make it not great is not having any members and not having something to bring new lasting members to the club.

If it doubles our participation, I'd be even more into it.

As long as it people powered I don't see the big deal.
Kayaks are already allowed, and if you have a yak with pedals then just don't use em and use your oars/paddles.

Most kayaks can be setup with a livewell. I have two types of kayaks, and both can take livewell. I may fish with my homie this year vs the kick.

I would say show up to the meeting and let's vote on it. If enough members want to allow it then it should happen.

Thumbs up from me.
